Lauder Hotel

Built in times of the horse and coach, this authentic Central Otago hotel borders the old Lauder Rail Station site, which means the hotel is literally right on the Rail Trail.

The hotel’s new owners, the Patterson family of Gerald and his son Chris and daughter in law Pip, have a vision to make the Lauder Hotel even more of a ‘must stop’ for those doing the Rail Trail, visitors to Central and of course, locals

All day snacks will be available every day with good hearty country meals served seven nights a week. The cellar will be stocked with Central’s favourite beers and a good wide selection of Central Otago wines.

For overnight guests the Lauder Hotel will continue to provide four clean and cosy double rooms, shared bathroom and separate toilet facilities. To make the most of Central Otago’s long hot summers, there is a sheltered garden bar and other outdoor areas are to be developed, including a petanque court and a place for kids to play.

As for hospitality, Gerald and his staff promise you won’t want to leave!

Big Sky Cottage - Lauder

Welcome to Big Sky Cottage, a beautiful character 1930s mud brick house, providing self contained accommodation in Lauder.

Overlooking Lauder Station on the Central Otago Rail Trail it is an excellent place to start one of the most spectacular sections of the Trail.

The house is self-catering with exclusive occupancy (breakfast available on request). It is tastefully decorated and is well equipped with clean, comfortable furnishings and modern appliances. It has a wide cool veranda (with rocking chairs) for hot summer days and a sheltered sun-trap garden.

The house is for a maximum of four people for single party use with exclusive occupancy.

Lauderdale Estate

Accommodation at Lauderdale Estate is provided in unique historic buildings. Some are the original stone and mud brick buildings, and others are 100 year old wooden chalets moved from Pleasant Valley, north of Dunedin.

Each building is totally private, tucked away amongst the trees, spread through 20 acres of park like setting.

Bathrooms for those without facilities, and the dining area, are situated in the new reception centre.

Lauder Store Accommodation

Earl and Pam Harrex welcome you to the Lauder Store Accommodation, situated on the Otago Central Rail Trail at Lauder in Central Otago.
The Store built early 1900s was the butchery, general store and post office for the Lauder district, closing in 1995.
We have completed extensive alterations to provide accommodation with character for up to fourteen guests.
