Otago Central Rail Trail Duathlon
The 150km Otago Central Rail Trail Challenge Duathlon is held every year, on the last weekend of February. The event involves running and mountain biking the entire length of the Rail Trail spread over two days. The event is supported by the OCRT Trust and the Department of Conservation and is organised and managed by the combined Lions Clubs throughout Central Otago. The event is broken into four stages on each day - two running and two biking. Day 1 : 90kms Clyde Railhead to Ranfurly Day 2 : 60kms Ranfurly to Middlemarch While there is a competitive edge to the event, most people participate for the enjoyment and challenge of completing the 150km course. There are a wide range of team categories to encourage participation.
