Catch-A-Bus Dunedin to Wanaka and Return is the leading passenger Service presently licenced to operate through the Maniototo.
This is significant because it is the only passenger Service which follows the Rail Trail in its entirity. Boasting a recently updated fleet with all the latest equipment for transporting bicyles safely, it is at present without rival.

A visit to Otago is not complete without a trip on the Taieri Gorge Railway - one of the world's great train trips.

The train can take passengers in either direction and carries bikes free of charge. The train goes to Pukerangi daily and to Middlemarch on fridays and Sundays during the summer season (1 October - 30 April).

Begin or end your rail trail experience in style on the famous Taieri Gorge Railway. Sit back and relax as the train negotiates this exhilarating narrow river gorge with cliff hugging tunnels and viaducts, which soar high above the river. Take a photo on the open air platforms or wait until the train stops for a scenic photo opportunity.

With live commentary, friendly well informed staff, sight seeing stops, modern and traditional carriages and a fully licenced snack bar, this is an all weather experience not to be missed.

TRAIL RENTALS

Trail Rentals has been set up to help people on the Rail Trail make the most of their adventure.  Cars located at both Wedderburn Tavern and CJ Sinclair garage in Ranfurly.

By hiring a car $55 or 8 seater van $75 (1 day hire) you will be able to explore the beauty and history of Central Otago, the last piece of real New Zealand left.

Hire an 8 seater coach as your support vehicle, eg. 4 day hire $258 all inclusive of insurance and unlimited kilometres.
Just return with a full tank of gas.
Pickup/dropoff fee may apply in other areas.
Longer Hire Periods at cheqper rates
Also available Driver Service and other Transport/Shuttle options.

Organise your biking holiday so you can spend an extra day or two in this lovely area.

As the name, "Central Otago" implies it is a handy place to base yourself.

Rail Trail Shuttles

 

We offer a daily shuttle service along the Otago Central Rail Trail.  We cater for passenger transport, daily bag transfers and bike relocation.  We guarantee comfort and style when you travel in our modern fleet of Mercedes Benz shuttles.  

Our scheduled service departs daily from Middlemarch at 9.00am and arrives in Clyde at 11.30am and departs Clyde at 1.00pm and arrives in Middlemarch at 3.30pm.
