Description

Welcome to Pitches Store

Staying or dining at Pitches Store is the beginning of a unique experience.

Hidden from the world in the small historic town of Ophir in Central Otago, Pitches Store provides all the charm and special comforts you desire – perfect as Otago rail trail accommodation, for corporate travellers and romantic getaways alike.

Recently opened after 6 years of restoration, every detail of this Central Otago accommodation reflects contemporary luxury, tastefully combined with hints of its unique 130 year history.

With 6 rooms and a restaurant onsite, it’s easy to enjoy passing the time with some great food, wine and good company or simply unwind in the thoughtfully designed rooms.

For those escaping a more hectic pace of life, plenty of wide open space, big skies and rolling hills characteristic of Central Otago countryside will allow for some much needed peace and quiet.

Not far from the Central Otago rail trail, and in what can only be called an outdoor playground, guests at Pitches Store have plenty of attractions close at hand, including 4WD Tours, walks, skifields and even an all-season curling rink.

We have a courtesy van service available.
We also offer a car rental service.

The single most important resource when travelling the Central Otago Rail Trail

A beautifully crafted book with amazing photography by Peter Andrews showing Central Otago as it truly is, one of the most rugged, extreme and beautiful locations on the planet. Stunning scenery, amazing and important historical and current information, detailed maps, lists of accommodation, frequently asked questions, where to eat, how far between towns, etc. It’s all in here.
